The Ministry of External Affairs has made corrections in the name of the minister who responded to a question asked in the Lok Sabha regarding declaring the Palestinian organization Hamas as a terrorist organization. The House was informed in this regard on Monday.

The first answer to this question was the name of the Minister of State for External Affairs, Meenakshi Lekhi. V Muraleedharan, the second Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs, has now been named in his place. Muraleedharan himself tabled the statement related to the change in name in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

On December 9, a political controversy erupted after Lekhi said that he had not signed any document related to the question tabled in the Lok Sabha on Friday regarding declaring Hamas as a terrorist organization. As Lekhi's remarks were criticized by opposition parties, the Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement saying that the name of V Muraleedharan as the Minister of State answering the question was being corrected.
