Money for questions case, hearing in Ethics Committee
BJP MP Nishikant said - the question is only whether Mahua is a thief or not, the truth is in the documents.
On October 26, the Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha held a hearing against TMC MP Mahua Moitra on the charge of taking money and asking questions in Parliament. Mahua's lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai arrived to answer the questions of the Ethics Committee. He was interrogated in the committee room of Parliament.
After Jai Anant, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey also appeared before the committee. Dubey himself had accused the TMC MP of asking questions in Parliament at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani.
After questioning, Nishikant said that whenever he is called, he will appear before the committee. Nishikant said- Whatever proof is asked from me, I will give it, the whole truth is in the papers.
When BJP MP from Godda Nishikant Dubey was asked, Mahua accused him that during the election nomination, Nishikant had given his fake degree. On this Nishikant said that there is only one question – is Mahua a thief or not.
Know about the members of the Ethics Committee
The chairman of the Ethics Committee hearing the complaint of Nishikant Dubey is BJP MP Vinod Kumar Sonkar. BJP has VD Sharma, Sumedhanand Saraswati, Aparajita Sarangi, Dr. Rajdeep Roy, Sunita Duggal and Subhash Bhamre as members of the committee.
From the Congress side, the committee includes V Vaithilingam, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Balasore Vallabhaneni and Praneeth Kumar. Apart from this, Shiv Sena's Hemant Godse, JDU's Giridhari Yadav, CPI (M)'s PR Natarajan and BSP's Danish Ali are included.
Nishikant had written a letter to the speaker complaining
Dubey, MP from Godda, Jharkhand, had written a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker on October 15. Its title was- 'Re-emergence of nasty cash for query in Parliament.' Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had sent Nishikant Dubey's complaint to the Ethics Committee on Tuesday 17 October.
In a letter written to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Nishikant had accused Mahua Moitra of taking gifts and cash from Mumbai businessman Darshan Hiranandani for asking questions in the House.
Nishikant had demanded from the Speaker that a committee should be formed to investigate this matter and Mahua Moitra should be suspended from the House. In the letter, he had also written about serious breach of privileges, insult to the House and registering a criminal case under section 120A of the IPC.
Mahua reached the High Court on 17 October
Mahua filed a petition in the Delhi High Court on October 17 regarding these allegations of Nishikant Dubey. Mahua has talked about taking action against Nishikant Dubey, a lawyer, and banning many social media platforms.
