Modi government's pilot project will provide farmers with an ID card similar to Aadhar
Farmers ID Card: The central government is constantly focusing on increasing the income of farmers. Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi said on Monday that taking a big step towards digitizing the agriculture sector, the central government will soon start registering farmers across the country so that they can be provided a unique identity card similar to Aadhaar.
It is decided to issue Aadhaar-like identity cards for easily delivering agricultural schemes to the common farmers. For this, the government will register farmers across the country. This is part of the Rs 2,817 crore Digital Agriculture Mission by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi said this on Monday while speaking at the Outlook-Agritech Summit and Swaraj Awards organized in association with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. The scheme aims to register five crore farmers by March next year.
This special identity card will also contribute to decreasing the complexity of verification in the process of applying for schemes related to MSP and Kisan Credit Card. 19 states have agreed to join the scheme. For this, a pilot project has already been run in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
This new registration will help farmers avail themselves of different agriculture-based schemes. It will also be helpful in implementing government schemes in a very effective manner. Farmers are also being developed with technology like an AI-based chat box.
