Modi Government Takes Steps to Control Inflation, Reduces LPG Prices by Rs 200
The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been cut by Rs 200 per cylinder, effective from August 29, 2023. This is the first reduction in LPG prices since March 2022.

New Delhi : The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been cut by Rs 200 per cylinder, effective from August 29, 2023. This is the first reduction in LPG prices since March 2022.
The price of a 14.2-kg LPG cylinder in Delhi will now be Rs 903.50, down from Rs 1,103.50 previously. The price of a cylinder in Mumbai will be Rs 899.50, down from Rs 1,101.50.
The reduction in LPG prices comes amid rising inflation in India. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rose to 7.01% in June 2023, the highest level in eight years.
The government has taken a number of steps to control inflation, including increasing the import duty on edible oils and pulses. The reduction in LPG prices is another measure aimed at easing the burden on consumers.

The reduction in LPG prices will benefit around 90 million households in India that use LPG for cooking. It is expected to provide relief to consumers, especially those from low-income households.
