Melinda Gates, former wife of Bill Gates, one of the world's top billionaires, has resigned from the post of co-chairman of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation does social service work around the world and is today the world's top non-governmental organization. Melinda Gates' last day at the Gates Foundation will be June 7.
Melinda Gates informed about her resignation by sharing a post on social media. Melinda wrote that after much consideration, I have decided to resign from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. My last day at the foundation will be June 7. Melinda wrote that Bill and I have together created an amazing organization that is tackling inequality around the world. Melinda wrote in her post that the foundation is in strong hands under the leadership of its CEO Mark Suzman. Melinda wrote that now is the right time when I should move forward and enter a new chapter of philanthropy.
The deal will give Melinda Gates $12.5 billion. Mark Suzman stated that Bill Gates will now serve as the Foundation's only president following Melinda Gates' resignation. After the resignation of Melinda Gates, Bill Gates also thanked Melinda Gates for her contribution in a post shared on social media. Bill and Melinda Gates divorced in 2021 after 27 years of marriage but had talked about working together in the foundation. Although they had also said that both of them will continue to work together for the Gates Foundation in a trial period till the year 2023, if they feel that they cannot work together then both will separate.
