The ongoing war between Israel and Hamas is increasing. After this war, the world seems divided into two groups. However, many countries have also appealed for peace. In this sequence, in the special session of the United Nations General Assembly, a resolution presented for a ceasefire in Gaza on humanitarian grounds was adopted with an overwhelming majority. However, 45 countries including India, Britain, Canada, Germany abstained from voting. Many leaders and organizations in the country have expressed surprise and also criticized the attitude of keeping themselves away from this proposal. In this sequence, left organizations CPI (M) and CPI said that this stand of India is shocking.

This shows that India is shaping its foreign policy as a subordinate ally of US imperialism. Meanwhile, CPI (M) also said that it will protest at its AKG Bhawan office on Sunday to show solidarity with Palestine.

Accusations against Modi government regarding Indian foreign policy
He noted India's abstention on a resolution which was adopted with an overwhelming majority. This shows the extent to which Indian foreign policy is shaping the Modi government's actions to be a subservient ally of US imperialism and to strengthen the US-Israel-India nexus. He also said that as soon as the UN General Assembly adopted the resolution, Israel intensified air and ground attacks in the Gaza Strip. Both organizations called for a ceasefire, saying Israel had cut off all communications in Gaza.

120 votes were cast in favor of the proposal
It is noteworthy that the proposal presented by Jordan for a ceasefire on humanitarian grounds in Gaza amid the Israel-Hamas war has been passed in the United Nations General Assembly. The UNGA has adopted the resolution with an overwhelming majority. 120 votes were cast in favor of the proposal, while 14 votes were cast against it. Whereas 45 countries had kept themselves away from voting. The resolution calls for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas on humanitarian grounds. It also calls for humanitarian aid to reach Gaza without interruption, including resuming the distribution of water, electricity and goods.

Canada moved an amendment to the resolution to condemn Hamas' attack on Israel, which was rejected. However, India supported this proposal. Surprisingly, Britain and Germany, which strongly support Israel in its war with Hamas, were absent from the vote.

These countries voted against the proposal
The United States, Israel, Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Fiji, Guatemala, Hungary, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay and Tonga voted against the resolution tabled by Jordan.

India urges both sides at UN to desist from violence
Concerned over the deteriorating security situation and loss of civilian lives in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, India has urged both sides in the United Nations to reduce tension and refrain from violence. India's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Yojana Patel, in her remarks on the Israel-Hamas war at the emergency special session of the UN General Assembly on Friday (local time), said India is deeply concerned over the deteriorating security situation and the staggering losses. Civilians are losing their lives in the ongoing conflict. Increasing hostilities in the region will further increase the humanitarian crisis. It is essential for all parties to demonstrate the utmost responsibility.
