Khadi and Village Industries provided more than 10 lakh jobs, annual turnover reached Rs 1.50 lakh crore for the first time
Job: Khadi and Village Industries Commission Chairman Manoj Kumar said on Tuesday, that the increase in employment worked to strengthen the rural economy. He said the creation of new employment in Khadi and Village Industries activities increased by 81 percent in the 10 years since 2013-14.
For the first time, the annual turnover of Khadi and Village Industries crossed Rs 1.50 lakh crore in 2023-24. During this period it employed more than 10 lakh people. Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission Manoj Kumar said on Tuesday that this increase in employment strengthened the rural economy. He said new employment generated in Khadi and Village Industries activities increased by 81 percent during the 10 years since 2013-14. During this period, production grew by 315 per cent and sales of Khadi and Village Industry products grew by 400 per cent.
The Indian gaming industry is likely to grow by 20 percent to Rs 23,100 crore in the current financial year. A Grant Thornton report said that the number of online gamers in India has gone ahead of that in China, with 442 million. The report called for a comprehensive code of conduct for the gaming industry, setting standards of ethical behavior on grounds of accountability and transparency.
The report, released on Tuesday, IANS quoted, said that Indian gaming has raised $2.8 billion from domestic and global investors in the last five years while the impact of 28 per cent GST slapped on the industry was huge with large-scale layoffs and some startups closing down due to the tax burden.
