Karnataka High Court gave a warning to Facebook, said- will ban it all over India
Karnataka High Court warns Facebook: The Karnataka High Court has warned Facebook that the social media site can also be banned.
The Karnataka High Court has expressed strong displeasure over Facebook not cooperating with the state police. The court said during the hearing on an application that if Facebook does not cooperate with the agencies, then why not consider shutting it down all over India? Justice Krishna S. Dixit said this during the hearing of the case related to the Indian citizen lodged in jail in Saudi Arabia. The police had asked Facebook for information related to this person, which was not provided by Facebook. When this problem was told to the court by the Karnataka Police, Justice Dixit looked very angry with the attitude of Facebook. After this, the Karnataka High Court issued an order to Facebook asking it to report on it within a week.
Kavita, a resident of Mangaluru, has filed an application in the Karnataka High Court stating that her husband Shailesh Kumar has been working in Saudi Arabia for many years. In the year 2019, when the CAA and NRC movement was going on in the country, her husband posted a Facebook post against the movement and in support of the government. Irritated by this, some people created fake profiles in his name and posted objectionable posts against the ruler of Saudi Arabia and Islam. After this, the Saudi Arabian police arrested Shailesh and put him in jail.
Kavita has complained about this to the Mangaluru Police. While probing the complaint, the police sought information from Facebook about the fake accounts being opened but the site did not respond. On this, Kavita has filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court regarding the delay in the investigation. On which the court is hearing.
