JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal accused of rape: Female doctor lodged FIR in Mumbai, case is of January 2022
A woman has filed a rape case against JSW Group Chairman and Managing Director (MD) Sajjan Jindal in Mumbai. The woman is a doctor by profession. An FIR has been registered against Jindal under sections 376, 354, and 503 of the IPC at Mumbai Bandra Kurla Complex Police Station.
The case is of January 24, 2022, regarding which the woman had complained to the police in February 2022, but the police had not registered the case then. On 5 December 23, the woman filed a writ petition in the court, after which on the orders of the court, the police registered an FIR on 13 December 23.
The complaining woman told CNBC-TV18 that she met Sajjan Jindal for the first time in Dubai on 8 October 2021. After this, both of them met several times from October 2021 to January 2022. During this, Jindal tried to force himself on her.
The woman further told that on January 24, she reached Jindal's office located in the penthouse where he raped her. According to the FIR, the woman had first approached the police station with this complaint on 16 February 2022, but the police did not register the case there.
Mumbai Police has denied the woman's allegations of any delay in registering the FIR. The complainant said that he was also being pressured to settle the matter.
