Jay Shah becomes the new chairman of ICC, the third Indian to hold this command
ICC New Chairman Jay Shah: Jay Shah has taken over as the chairman of the ICC after the nearly 4-year tenure of New Zealand's Greg Barclay. He has become the third Indian to do so.

Jay Shah is one of the most potent persons in the cricketing world, and his term as the Secretary-General of BCCI helped India to solidify its grip as the most powerful cricket board in the game. Now, Jay Shah has taken over as the new chairman of the ICC. He takes over from New Zealander Greg Barclay, who replaced him on 24 November 2020. Jay Shah has become the third Indian to get this chair. This post was previously held by Indians, including N Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar.
The current chairman, Greg Barclay, announced his resignation through video conferencing while a $ 4.46 billion dispute is going on between the governing body and its major broadcast rights holder, Star. Shah had the support for his nomination of two big teams in international cricket: Australia and England. It is being said that he is likely in office as the President of the ICC for at least three years.
ICC President Greg Barclay has confirmed to the board that he will not stand for a third term and will step down when his current term ends at the end of November. Barclay, an independent ICC President, was first elected in November 2020 and then re-elected in 2022. The ICC official had said that nominations for the next chairman should be received by August 27, 2024, from the current directors and, in case of multiple candidates, elections would be held but this didn't take place since Jay Shah was elected unopposed, whose term will start from December 1, 2024.
