Nine pirates who hijacked the Iranian ship Al-Kambar in the Arabian Sea will be brought to India and tried and punished. Earlier, a medical examination of 23 Pakistani personnel and nine pirates who were freed from the ship is being conducted. After this test, the Iranian ship will leave for its destination.

An Iranian fishing boat was taken by pirates on Thursday in the Arabian Sea, close to the Yemeni island of Socotra. The two Indian Navy warships in the area, INS Sumedha and INS Trishul sprang into action on Friday after receiving the emergency message sent by the ship. After a few hours, the two warships intercepted the hijacked ship and, in a covert operation during the night, forced the pirates to surrender.

After more than a day, the people of Pakistan, no longer under the fear of pirates, celebrated India and the Indian Navy with a sigh of relief. The Indian Navy is now in charge of the ship and all 23 Pakistani nationals who are employed on it. The Navy is conducting a medical examination of these Pakistani personnel, after which the Iranian ship will be sent on its way, while the nine hijackers will be brought to India and legal action will be taken against them.

Action will be taken against these robbers under the Maritime Anti Piracy Act 2022. According to the information so far, the captured robbers are of Somalian origin. Given the attacks on cargo ships by Yemen's Houthi rebels in the Red Sea, the Indian Navy has deployed warships in the surrounding sea area. The Navy has defended several foreign ships from attacks in the past weeks.

This is the second time in the last few weeks that Pakistani citizens have been rescued safely. The Indian Navy has said that it is determined to maintain peaceful and safe maritime traffic.
