In FY24, the government monetized assets worth Rs 1.56 lakh crore against a target of Rs 1.8 lakh crore

It added that in the year 2023-24, the government monetized assets amounting to Rs. 1.56 lakh crore under NMP. This is lower than the target of Rs 1.8 lakh crore, an official statement said.

The monetization potential of such brownfield infrastructure assets owned by the Centre has been estimated at Rs 6 lakh crore to the Centre from FY22 to FY25 under NMP.

It said the total target under NMP in the first two years, i.e., 2021-22 and 2022-23, was about Rs 2.5 lakh crore. The government had achieved some Rs 2.30 lakh crore in these two years. The Ministries of Road Transport and Highways monetized assets worth Rs 40,314 crore in FY 2024. The Ministry of Coal achieved Rs 56,794 crore, while the Ministry of Power achieved Rs 14,690 crore.

At the same time, the Ministry of Mines achieved Rs 4,090 crore and Rs 9,587 crore achieved by the Ministry of Petroleum–Natural Gas, the Urban Ministry monetized Rs 6,480 crore, and the Ministry of Shipping Rs 7,627 cr. It, therefore, said all the ministries hit 70 percent of their target for monetization.
