'If needed, we will increase army deployment', Manipur Police warns of action against radical groups
Manipur: The statement said that search operations will continue in the coming days and no one responsible for criminal activities will be spared. If the Manipur Police is targeted then there will be a need to increase the deployment of the Army and other central forces.
Manipur Police on Thursday issued a stern warning to Arambai Tengol (AT), a radical Meitei group involved in crimes like attacks and extortion, following the attack on a state police officer. Police have warned other anti-social groups that if the situation does not improve, the deployment of the army and other central forces will be increased.
Manipur Police also issued a strong statement saying that the state police is a neutral force and does not work against or in favour of any community. The State Police is always committed to protecting and securing the life and property of the public. The public should not be misled and should help the Manipur Police bring back peace and harmony in the state.
The statement said the search operation will continue in the coming days and no one responsible for criminal activities will be spared. If the Manipur Police is targeted then there will be a need to increase the deployment of the Army and other central forces.
The statement comes in the wake of Manipur Police's Additional Superintendent of Police Moirangthem Amit Singh being allegedly attacked by AT members two days ago. Manipur Police said in the statement that all the personnel from the top to the lower ranks of the police force are united and any kind of attack on any officer or personnel or targeting using social media will not be tolerated. This will be taken seriously and strictest action will be taken.
