ICC expressed displeasure over the semi-final match between Afghanistan and South Africa, gave the pitch an 'unsatisfactory' rating
ICC Pitch Ratings, T20 World Cup 2024: The ICC has given an 'unsatisfactory' rating to the pitch of the Sri Lanka vs South Africa and India vs Ireland matches played at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium. At the same time, displeasure has also been expressed over the pitch used in the first semi-final match between Afghanistan and South Africa in Trinidad on 26 June.

Questions were raised over the pitches of Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York and Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad by the International Cricket Council during the T20 World Cup 2024. The ICC admitted that the pitches in New York and Tarouba were below par, two months after the end of the T20 World Cup.
The ICC has termed the pitch of Sri Lanka vs South Africa and India vs Ireland matches played at Nassau County Cricket Stadium as 'unsatisfactory'. It has also shown its displeasure over the pitch used in the first semi-final match between Afghanistan vs South Africa in Trinidad on 26 June. In this match, the Afghanistan team was all out after scoring just 56 runs in 12 overs.
The match played b/w India and Pakistan at Nassau County Stadium in New York has been reported as a satisfactory one. The semi-final pitch that took place b/w India and England was rated as 'satisfactory'. The final, which was played b/w India and South Africa, termed the pitch as 'very good'.
Many players were also injured in the match played between India and Ireland. Rohit Sharma was also injured due to the double bounce of the pitch and he had to retire hurt. Apart from this, Harry Tractor and Rishabh Pant were also injured in that match.
During the tournament, Andy Flower had described that pitch as very close to being dangerous. Former England captain Michael Vaughan had said that the pitch was shocking. The New York ground was prepared in just five months. The pitches there were heavily criticized during the World Cup. After this, the ICC also accepted that the level of the pitches there was not good at all. A total of eight matches of the tournament were played in New York. Another thing was that the matches were being held there at short intervals.
