Horrific fire in department store causes havoc, 16 people dead so far

A serious accident occurred in China on Wednesday. At about 6 pm, a 14-storey department store of Zigong city in Sichuan province suddenly burst into roaring flames. Shortly afterward, the department store gradually spread throughout and the store started on fire. The fire was so fierce that its smoke was also very thick; a cloud of fire smoke layered over the department store. This accident had led to a lot of loss of life and property.

At least 16 people are reported dead in the fire in a 14-storey department store in Zigong city of Sichuan province of China. The information was given by the local fire and rescue headquarters this morning. There is also a possibility that this figure would increase. Several people have reportedly been injured in the accident. The injured have been rushed to the hospital for treatment. Some of them are said to be in a life-threatening condition.

The fire has broken out at about 6 p.m. local time on Wednesday evening, and the fire brigade headquarters was alerted. Reaching the spot at the earliest, the marshaled vehicle of the firefighters soon reached the spot.

The fire was so intense that after great work, In putting out the fire the work continued until about 3 am on Thursday morning, and by then, the work was successful. But as a result, a great lot of damage was suffered by the departmental store. The police have initiated an investigation process regarding the issue. However, it has not been revealed yet why the fire would be ignited by them in the departmental store.
