Assam: Heroin worth a total of Rs 5 crore has been seized in separate incidents in two districts of Assam. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a search operation in the Khakarjan area of Karbi Anglong district and arrested two accused with drugs worth crores. After this, an accused was arrested in another district with drugs worth Rs 1 crore.

Heroin worth a total of Rs 5 crore has been seized in separate incidents in two districts of Assam. Police said on Friday that three people have been arrested in these cases.

Acting on a tip-off, police launched a search operation in the Khakarjan area of Karbi Anglong district and stopped a vehicle coming from Dimapur in neighboring Nagaland on Thursday night. A police officer said that during the search of the vehicle, the police seized 726 grams of heroin hidden in a secret chamber in the doors of the vehicle.

It is known that the value of the seized medicines is estimated to be more than Rs 4 crore. Police said that two people in the car were arrested. In another incident, a team of Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police opened fire on a smuggler who had escaped from the spot.

He was later arrested at Fancy Para under the Jalukbari police station area in Kamrup district on Thursday. During the search of his vehicle, police seized 170 grams of heroin hidden in 12 soap boxes. "During a further search at his rented residence in Guwahati, the STF team seized 100 grams of heroin," another police officer said. He said that the total value of the seized drugs was estimated to be more than Rs 1 crore.
