Heavy devastation due to floods and rains in Brazil, more than 100 deaths and thousands missing

People trapped in flood-affected cities do not even have water to drink. Telephone and internet services are also disrupted in many places. 99800 houses have been partially or completely destroyed due to floods.

There has been heavy rain in Rio Grande do Sul state of Brazil for the last week, due to which many areas have been flooded. So far 100 people have died due to floods. At the same time, 14 lakh people are affected. Two lakh people have had to leave their homes. Brazil's Civil Defense Agency informed that 99,800 houses have been partially or completely destroyed due to floods and rains.

Rio Granada do Sul has experienced intense rains since April 29. There is a flood crisis affecting 414 cities in the state. There are around 130 persons unaccounted for. There isn't even water for those stranded in flood-affected cities. Internet and phone service are also interrupted in many locations at the same time.

Resources to meet residents' needs will never be in short supply, according to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's pledge. Across the state, about 15,000 volunteers, police, firemen, and soldiers are working to rescue and provide relief to stranded individuals.
