Days after he was allegedly attacked by SFI activists, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Saturday decided to stay on the Calicut University campus to take on the pro-Left students' union. To attend various events, Khan was initially scheduled to stay at the government guest house in Kozhikode, but he later changed plans.
Decision changed after threats from students
Governor Arif Mohammad Khan told reporters in New Delhi that he was planning to stay in the government guest house. Then I was told that they (Students Federation of India) have said that they will not allow me to enter the university, then I said change the schedule and I will stay in the university campus itself. The governor said that if the protesters reached the vehicle, he would get out of the car.
Khan further said that if anyone comes near my car, I will immediately stop him and get down. Them damaging my car, they should kill me. If they have courage, they should kill me. They want to scare me. I am not someone who can be intimidated. They are bullying.
Governor's car allegedly attacked
The Governor said that the political party has officially issued a statement saying that the black flag will continue, but there will be no interruption. Does that mean they were blocking my path earlier? This is a crime. He asked whether anyone would be allowed to go near the Chief Minister's car. Recently, on the way to the international airport in Thiruvananthapuram, Students Federation of India activists allegedly attacked Khan's car, after which he deboarded the vehicle.
Student union is protesting
The students' union is protesting against Khan's actions as chancellor of universities and the nomination of BKP-ABVP workers as senate members in various universities. SFI, the youth wing of the ruling CPI(M), has been alleging that Khan's actions were part of the BJP's saffronisation agenda.
