In view of the situation, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Chief Minister of the state Bhupendrabhai Patel. During the conversation, Shah assured him that the central government would provide all necessary assistance to deal with the crisis.

The effect of pressure over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining east Rajasthan has changed into a high-pressure area. According to the IMD, it can move westward by August 29 apart from these two states.

It is also likely to reach the Saurashtra region and areas around Pakistan, and North East Arabian Sea. Due to this, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in parts of Gujarat, Goa, and Maharashtra in the next two to three days.

It has also pointed out the possibility of flooding in some watersheds and neighbourhood states in the weather subdivisions of East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat during the next 24 hours. According to the IMD, the rains may lead to utterly saturated soil and surface runoff and flooding in low-lying areas.

Continuous rain over the past two days in Gujarat has inundated many low-lying areas, and there was really very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in a number of places.

Realizing the situation to be grave in terms of Law and Order, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Chief Minister of the State Bhupendrabhai Patel, and State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi over the telephone. Shah expressed concern and assured the Centre of all possible help, saying it would be provided to handle this crisis. Shah himself responded promptly to ensure there would be timely help from the affected areas.

"As heavy rains have led to flood-like situation in some areas of Gujarat, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Chief Minister and Home Minister of Gujarat and assured them of necessary assistance from the Central Government," an official source told ANI.

The Gujarat Chief Minister on Sunday directed officials to move people from low-lying areas to safer places. The Chief Minister's Office said that the Valsad, Tapi, Navsari, Surat, Narmada and Panchmahal districts of south Gujarat were the worst affected by the rains.

The IMD has also issued an orange alert for northeastern districts of Odisha, including Mayurbhanj and Kendujhar, as well as Dhenkanal, Angul, Jajapur, Kendrapara, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur.
