Do not waste lakhs of rupees in pursuit of MBA immediately, new guidelines of UGC will save people's hard-earned money

The trend of doing an MBA in various fields has increased to get a job or to get a promotion in the job. Taking advantage of this need of the youth, many educational institutions are also offering MBA courses, which do not even have basic facilities and properly trained staff. Such institutions are also promising to give such degrees to students through online mediums without taking classes. Many such educational institutions are claiming to conduct MBA courses in six months or even ten days. In return, they are also charging huge fees to the students.

But UGC has cautioned the students from falling prey to such educational institutions and has said that the students should not be admitted to any such institution. UGC has also asked such institutions to obtain necessary permission from AICTE before imparting MBA education. According to the information, AICTE has not yet given necessary permission to any such institution to conduct an MBA immediately.

As per the clarification provided by the University Grants Commission (UGC), institutions must obtain appropriate permission before offering online degrees. An MBA or other higher education degree cannot be offered by any institution without it. Regulations stipulate that educational establishments that provide remote learning must also meet certain minimal standards. Exams and appropriate study materials must be scheduled by students. A copy of the required permission, which the institutions must obtain, contains all of these regulations.

To save students from the trap of fake institutions, UGC has also released a list. It includes the names of only those institutions which have been granted the necessary permission to provide higher education. Before being admitted to any institute, students must check its credibility in this list. This list can also be checked on the UGC website (www.deb.ugc.ac.in).
