The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for fog in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh on December 30 and 31. 5 people died in road accidents due to fog in Himachal and Uttar Pradesh.

On the other hand, delays in flights from Delhi airport continued for the fourth consecutive day. Till 8.30 in the morning, 80 flights and 30 trains did not run as scheduled. According to Northern Railway, most of the trains were running late by 2 hours to 6 hours. On Thursday, 134 flights were delayed, which included international and domestic flights.

Fog will continue in North India for the next two days
According to IMD, some airports, highways and rail routes in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, North Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh may also be affected due to fog on December 31. Between December 30 and January 2, light rain and snowfall has been predicted in Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, North-West and Central Delhi.

According to private weather agency Skymet, dense to very dense fog may continue over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, parts of North Rajasthan and many places in Bihar. Dense fog may occur over Western Himalayas, parts of Jharkhand, Odisha and Northeast India.

According to the agency, cold day conditions may occur in parts of Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on December 30 and 31. At the same time, during the next 24 hours, light rain is possible at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, southern Kerala, parts of Lakshadweep, southern islands of Andaman and Nicobar and Northeast India.

  • Health - Unless there is an emergency, avoid going out and keep your face covered. People suffering from asthma and bronchitis should avoid staying in dense fog for a long time, it can increase respiratory problems.
