BJP has to be defeated if the country is to be saved from destruction: Mamata Banerjee

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said that the BJP has to be defeated in the next Lok Sabha elections to save the country from destruction. At the same time, he hoped that the meeting of the opposition in Patna on Friday would be constructive. Mamta told reporters that tomorrow we have a meeting of the opposition. We hope it goes well and collective decisions are taken. I think people will vote against BJP to save the country from destruction.

Mamta met RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav at his residence in Patna. He was accompanied by Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and Minister Firhad Hakim. After meeting Lalu and Tejashwi Yadav, Mamta said that we will fight as a family. Top leaders of opposition parties will brainstorm in Bihar's capital Patna to chalk out a roadmap for the formation of an anti-BJP front in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized the BJP's failure to control the situation in Manipur. He said that it was because of the policies of the BJP that the North Eastern states were on the boil. Calling an all-party meeting on June 24 is a belated decision. Asked about Union Home Minister Amit Shah calling an all-party meeting in New Delhi, Banerjee said Trinamool Congress leader Derek O'Brien would represent the party in the Rajya Sabha. He said that it is too late now. I had requested the Center to let me go to Manipur but I got a letter yesterday about the all-party meeting. He alleged that the Center has failed to restore peace in Manipur, where caste violence has claimed over 100 lives.
