Before the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, where on one hand the Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar is engaged in uniting the opposition. On the other hand, the upheaval in the politics of his own state Bihar has intensified. Santosh Manjhi, son of former Bihar Chief Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha leader Jitan Ram Manjhi, has resigned from the cabinet. Santosh Manjhi was the Scheduled Caste-Tribe Welfare Minister in the Nitish cabinet.
According to media reports, Santosh Manjhi has submitted his resignation to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chowdhary. After resigning, Santosh Manjhi alleged that Nitish Kumar wanted the merger of Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) with Janata Dal (United). But we did not accept this. Santosh Suman said, whether we will go with BJP or not is a different matter. We are saving our existence. Nitish Kumar is trying to end our existence. How can we break our party for Nitish Kumar? Now we are in the Grand Alliance. Will try to stay in the same, but if the seat is not given, then we will see our way.
It is believed that Santosh has resigned keeping in mind the coming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Jitan Ram Manjhi was staking his party's claim on 5 seats for the Lok Sabha elections. For which Manjhi met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday. Manjhi had reached the Chief Minister's residence with his MLAs and held talks with Nitish Kumar for about an hour. During this Santosh Suman was also present there.
After meeting Nitish, Manjhi said that we are preparing to contest elections on five seats in the state under the alliance. Five Lok Sabha seats are also less for our party in Bihar. He said that wherever we live, we will win there. Everyone knows this. Jitan Ram Manjhi had not said anything openly, but his statement was being seen as a threat to walk away from the Grand Alliance and join the NDA.
Santosh Manjhi also expressed displeasure over the fact that he has been kept away from the big meeting to be held in Patna on June 23 in the name of opposition unity. On Monday, Jitan Ram Manjhi openly admitted that he had not received an invitation for the meeting to be held in Patna in the name of opposition unity. Till a few days ago, Manjhi was continuously saying that he would not leave the support of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, but Santosh Manjhi's move is making it clear that Jitan Ram could not stick to his word.
Former BJP state president Sanjay Jaiswal said that Nitish Kumar has accepted the slavery of Tejashwi Yadav as of today. Tejashwi Yadav would not at all like to have some educated youth company with him, as this exposes his shortcomings.
