Before T20 World Cup 2024, New Zealand's powerful opener suddenly retired, said this emotionally
New Zealand's Colin Munro, one of the most dangerous batsmen of white ball cricket, suddenly announced his retirement from all formats of international cricket. He played his last match for New Zealand against India only.

New Zealand's explosive batsman Colin Munro announced his retirement from international cricket on Thursday. This aggressive New Zealand batsman has not played any match for the national team in the last four years and he was last seen in New Zealand jersey in the T20 against India in 2020. This left-handed batsman made his T20 debut in December 2012 and got a chance to play ODI the next month. He has played only one Test in his career in January 2013. He was considered a specialist batsman primarily in white ball cricket.
Over 3000 runs have been scored by Munro in 123 games across all formats for New Zealand. In addition to being a member of the teams that placed second in the ODI World Cup in 2019 and the T20 World Cup squads in 2014 and 2016, he is the only batsman from New Zealand to have scored three centuries in T20 Internationals. After not being selected for the 2024 T20 World Cup team, Munro stated that he made the decision to retire.
The 37-year-old player said, “Playing international cricket for New Zealand has been the biggest achievement of my career and I will always be proud of it. I had hoped that I would return to the team in the form of franchise cricket, but since that is not going to happen now, I officially announce my retirement. Munro has played one Test, 57 ODIs, and 65 T20s for New Zealand and also has 3 centuries to his name in international T20s. He scored a half-century in 14 balls against Sri Lanka.
