Violence has taken a violent turn in Bangladesh. Many police stations have become deserted amid unprecedented turmoil. There are currently no policemen present in most police stations in the country, including the capital Dhaka. They are all taking refuge in safe places. Many people are staying with their relatives for personal safety.

High-ranking officials close to the recently ousted Awami League government have gone into hiding. Amidst the violence, many police officials have reported that more than four hundred police stations across the country have been attacked, vandalized, set on fire, and looted.

In this situation, no one feels safe staying in their respective stations or offices, so everyone is looking for safe shelter. Apart from this, policemen trapped due to public outrage in many places were rescued with the help of the army and taken to safe places.

Meanwhile, a police officer said that at least fifty police personnel have lost their lives due to public outrage since Monday afternoon.

Incidents of attack and looting took place at various police stations including Jatrabari, Badda, Watara, Mohammadpur, Adabor, Mirpur, Paltan, Shah Ali, and North East from Monday afternoon to night. Fierce clashes broke out between the police and the agitated mob at many places. Law enforcement officials evacuated various stations overnight.

Sources have reported that many police stations have turned into ruins. Fans, chairs, tables, and other items have been looted from inside the stations. Weapons and ammunition have also been stolen from many stations.

A police superintendent outside Dhaka said it would take time for police stations to return to their previous state because of the widespread destruction.
