Tamil Nadu: The Tamil Nadu government has decided to ban the sale of cotton candy in the state due to confirmed test reports revealing the presence of cancer-inducing chemicals.

Tamil Nadu, the state in the south of the country, has outlawed the sale of cotton candy. Due to verified test results showing the presence of chemicals known to cause cancer, the Tamil Nadu government has decided to outlaw the sale of cotton candy in the state. All food safety officials have been instructed by M Subramaniam, the health minister of Tamil Nadu, to take the appropriate steps and enforce strict measures.

Via video conference, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated and laid the cornerstone for several welfare projects in Chennai on Saturday. Thirteen dwellings for firemen and rescue workers, two district officers' offices and fire station buildings, and four new fire and rescue station buildings were all dedicated by CM Stalin. The total cost of construction for these structures was over Rs 15.34 crore.

The Chief Minister also dedicated 270 buildings built for Rs 80 crore by the Rural Development and Panchayat Department and 1374 new classroom buildings that cost more than Rs 204 crore. Then, on behalf of the Rural Development and Panchayats Department, CM Stalin laid the cornerstone for the construction of 31 km of roads at Keejur Panchayat, which is situated in Bodhamalai in the Namakkal district, at an estimated cost of Rs 139.65 crore. Additionally, the Chief Minister dedicated the Rs 29.93 crore Medical and Public Welfare Department-built Tuberculosis and Cardiovascular Medicine and Epidemiology Unit at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital Complex in Chennai.
