It has signed a pact with the Union Territory Administration of Andaman and Nicobar Islands for operating and maintenance of Car Nicobar and Campbell Bay airports. The respective pact was signed by Vishwendra, the incumbent Civil Aviation Secretary, and AAI's Executive Director-II, NV Subbaraidu.

Under the agreement, a 19-seater fixed-wing aircraft will ply over the three destinations –Port Blair, Car Nicobar, and Campbell Bay, with Gurugram-based private company 'FlyBig', under Big Charter Private Limited, selected as an operator. Founded in December 2020, FlyBig specializes in connecting Tier-2 cities of north and northwest India. "AAI will manage and maintain the airports for an initial period of five years, which can be extended for another five years with mutual consent," Vishvendra said.

Similar agreements were signed for the Shibpur airport in North Andaman in the beginning of 2023; all these constitute a part of the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme, which underlines increasing regional air connectivity and tourism. Devendra Yadav, the airport director, welcomed this agreement and termed this signing event as the beginning of a new chapter in civil aviation that would immensely enhance regional development and air connectivity.
