AI vs Human: ChatGPT could not solve the new coding problem, it is impossible to replace humans

This replaced the original piece, published in IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, that placed code produced via ChatGPT libraries and the code written by a programmer side by side in terms of complexity and security parameters. The study concluded that ChatGPT delivered innovative code from 15% to 75% of the time.

Success rates varied from 0.66 to a high of 89% success, depending on the task difficulty, the programming language used, and other aspects of the tasks. In general, the report states that ChatGPT can sometimes match and potentially exceed human programmers, but it also has a few drawbacks.

According to Yutian Tang, a lecturer at the University of Glasgow involved in the study, AI-based code offers enhanced productivity through its capacity to automate most tasks in software development. Meanwhile, he also unfolds the point that people need to understand: the strong and weak points in work done with these AI models. Tang highlighted the need for comprehensive analysis that identifies possible issues and techniques to improve AI-generated code.
