Siddaramaiah and Shivkumar did not talk even after meeting Rahul Gandhi, Surjewala said – churning continues  

The Congress has not yet been able to agree on the name of the Chief Minister in Karnataka. The tussle over the CM's face has been going on here ever since he won with a clear majority on May 13. The rounds of meetings are going on from Bengaluru to Delhi. But an agreement could not be reached between the two main candidates for the post of CM, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar. In the race for the post of Karnataka CM, both leaders had a meeting with Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday. But even after this meeting no result could be found. In such a situation, the announcement of CM could not be made even on the fourth day today. Now Congress in charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala said that churning is going on for the post of CM. The name will be announced soon.

Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar met Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday amidst a tussle for the CM chair. The picture of this meeting has been shared on the Twitter handle of Congress. Before Rahul, both the leaders had also met Mallikarjun Kharge. But even after these meetings, no consensus has been reached on the power-sharing formula.

Amidst the ongoing tug-of-war for the post of CM, it was revealed that Congress is working on a two-and-a-half-year formula. Siddaramaiah for two and a half years and then DK Shivakumar for two and a half years. But DK Shivkumar is adamant that I should be made the Chief Minister for the first two and a half years.

Earlier, the formula of Deputy CM also failed. DK Shivakumar has rejected the proposal to be made deputy CM. DK Shivakumar has held discussions with party leaders and their supporters at the residence of his brother and MP DK Suresh in Delhi.

Earlier in the afternoon on Wednesday, some media reports had said that Siddaramaiah's name had been finalized for the Karnataka Chief Ministership. After which supporters celebrated outside his residence. At the same time, preparations are going on in Bengaluru for the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister. Pictures of the pandal construction at Sri Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium in Bangalore also surfaced.

Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said that the discussions are still on and the candidate for the next chief minister's post will be announced today or tomorrow amid the continuing suspense over the CM's post. Talking to reporters outside Congress president Kharge's residence, Karnataka Congress in-charge Randeep Surjewala said that at present party president, Mallikarjun Kharge is holding discussions.

Surjewala has also urged the media not to speculate or spread rumors and stay away from fake news. He said that do not pay attention to the fake information and rumors being spread by the BJP.
