These include Sue Desmond Helman, former CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Nicole Seligman, former president of Sony Entertainment, and Fiji Simo, CEO of Instacart. OpenAI's board already includes ex-Salesforce co-CEO Brett Taylor and former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, who were inducted on the board only in November 2023.

Sam Altman, the company's founder, was relieved of his CEO duties by the OpenAI board in November of last year. The board members do not believe in Sam Altman, according to a statement released by the company. The absence of communication between Altman and the board members was also mentioned.
