Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been arrested and sent to jail. TDP has called for a nationwide strike on Monday in protest against the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu.
Former CM Naidu was arrested by CID on Saturday. A day after his arrest, he was produced in a court, where the court sent him to judicial custody till 23 September.
According to news agency ANI, CID officials also claimed that the state government has suffered a loss of more than Rs 300 crore due to the alleged fraud. Additional Advocate General of Andhra Pradesh Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy said that this is a clear case of a scam of Rs 370 crore. The court accepted our arguments. The CID told the court that the former CM was not cooperating in the interrogation and gave a roundabout answer saying that he did not remember some of the issues.
TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh, in a letter to the people, said, "I am writing to you today with a heart heavy with pain and eyes moist with tears. I dedicate my heart and soul to my father for the well-being of Andhra Pradesh and the Telugu people. I have grown up watching him work, he never got a day of rest, and he is working tirelessly to change the lives of millions of people.
