PM Ujjwala Yojana: District committee will decide new beneficiaries, government has decided to provide 75 lakh new connections
In the order issued by the Petroleum Ministry, it has been said that district-level committees will monitor the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) to ensure that only eligible families get the benefits. For this, the committee will hold regular meetings. This committee, to be formed under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate, will have three members from oil companies including the nodal officer. In this, one member will be an officer from the District Food and Supplies Department.

Now the district-level committee will investigate the beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. For this, the Central Government has directed the formation of the District Ujjwala Committee. It will be presided over by the District Magistrate. Last month, the Union Cabinet approved the proposal to provide 75 lakh new connections under this scheme.

Apart from this, three non-official members will be selected by the National Implementation Committee formed for PM Vishwakarma Yojana in the districts. With the slogan of clean fuel, and better life, the Central Government launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in May 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Let us tell you that earlier the oil companies used to select the beneficiaries as per the standards set by the government.
