The economy, real economy, financial economy, and market are an extremely important pillar for developed India. Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch said this during an event in Mumbai.
Buch said that an important driver for the economy is the way in which our entire market system functions in a well-balanced and progressive manner. It is a matter of pride for us that we are leading at the global table. India ranks number one in terms of the total number of IPO issuances in the world.
It is being issued in almost every trading session. In terms of the amount of capital raised and stock exchanges, we are at number 5. If you look at us from a jurisdiction perspective, we are No. 3. The amount of money raised is still competing with the larger economies - the US and China. If you look at the growth rate over the last five years, nobody is matching our growth rate.
