The European Union has included Facebook-Instagram's parent company Meta and image sharing platform Snapchat in the list of tech companies which it is investigating to stop illegal content online. The union has asked both the companies to provide information about the measures being taken to protect children from illegal and harmful content.

For this, time has been given till 1st December. Earlier, the European Union has also asked Alphabet's YouTube and TikTok to provide the same information. If any platform is found violating the Digital Services Act (DSA), fine may also be imposed.

Investigation started after Hamas attack on Israel
This investigation by the European Union does not mean that these companies have violated any kind of rules. After the Hamas attack in Israel on October 7, the European Union has started an investigation against TikTok, X, Meta and other platforms regarding propaganda.

The European Union is investigating China's Alibaba-owned e-commerce platform AliExpress to stop the sale of counterfeit medicines and illegal products.
