MEA: Relations between Delhi and 'Dili' will be strengthened, India will open embassy in Timor-Leste, preparations in full swing
MEA: President Draupadi Murmu is going on a six-day visit to Fiji, New Zealand, and Timor-Leste on August 5. During this, she will visit the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste on August 10 at the invitation of President Jose Ramos-Horta.

Timor-Leste has embarked on strengthening its relations with the country. The Ministry of External Affairs has announced the opening of an Indian embassy in Timor-Leste. Ministry officials say that after the opening of the embassy, coordination and relations between India's capital Delhi and Timor Leste's capital Dili will be strengthened.

Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry Secretary (East) Jaideep Mazumdar said that we are moving on the path of strengthening relations with Timor-Leste. Prime Minister Modi announced to start of the mission here in September last year. We are going to establish the embassy here. This work will be completed soon. India has strong, deep, and historical ties with Fiji, New Zealand, and Timor-Leste. In the last few years, cordial and friendly relations between India and New Zealand have seen an increase. The President's visit will give it further momentum.
The Ministry of External Affairs also said that Timor-Leste has also decided to open its embassy in New Delhi. The Delhi-Dili connection will be strengthened after the opening of the embassy.
On Thursday, India has signed a defense cooperation agreement with Vietnam. Foreign Ministry Secretary (East) Jaideep Mazumdar said that India and Vietnam have signed an implementation arrangement for defense industry cooperation. We also have a comprehensive approach to defense supplies for Vietnam, guided by their specific needs. The Prime Minister of Vietnam also discussed technology transfer in defense production.
