Major telecom crashed in Australia, internet and phone services of more than 10 million Australians were cut off
Millions of people in Australia were unable to access internet and phone services due to major telecom outages. Due to this outage, the country's biggest communication companies crashed due to some reason and people had to face a lot of problems. Even phone lines for emergency services were disrupted due to the telecom outage. The company's chief executive has still refused to call it a cyber attack.
More than 10 million Australians were left without internet and phone services on Wednesday after a sudden outage at one of Australia's largest communications companies. Optus said it was struggling to locate and fix the outage which crashed electronic payment systems and disrupted phone lines to emergency services.
The company's chief executive, Kelly Bayer Rosmarin, told national broadcaster ABC there was no indication so far that the outage was the result of a hacking or cyberattack.
He said, "Our team is still working on every possible avenue. We have several and so far we have tested all the causes of the outage and have taken new actions to fix the root problem from each of them. Has not happened."
"When we have identified the root cause and restoration time, we will update everyone as soon as possible," he said. The Australian government said mobile phones, landlines, and broadband internet were affected.
