Know the reason behind the three-month suspension of the female pilot at Air India.

The female pilot has been suspended by Air India for three months. The female pilot has been suspended for three months because, according to officials, she failed the pre-flight breath analyzer test.

The official stated that the Boeing pilot, scheduled to fly from Delhi to Hyderabad, was unable to pass the breathalyser examination. The pilot has been placed on suspension due to the events of last week. Air India hasn't yet released an official statement, though.

Prior to the flight, all crew members were required by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to undergo breathalyser tests. During the Corona era, this test was prohibited.

Last year, DGCA amended the criteria for medical examination of aircrew regarding alcohol. According to this, no crew member will consume any medicine mouthwash or tooth gel which contains alcohol. For this reason, the breath analyzer test may fail. If any crew member is taking any medication, he/she should consult the company doctor before the flight.

A breath analyzer test is also done before and after the flight. If you fail in this test, there is a provision for strict punishment. There is a rule to suspend the pilot for three months if he fails.
