As per the Confederation of All India Traders, trade was in full boom during Janmashtami celebrations across the country and therefore registered transactions of over Rs 25,000 crore. These figures highlight strong consumer spending during the festival driven by the vibrant festivities of Janmashtami. It is one of the most commercially active festivals of the year.

Khandelwal said, "Festivals like Janmashtami form part of the Sanatan economy, which in turn strengthens the country's economy." Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated across the country on August 26 this year. Devotees traditionally observed fast and decorated temples and houses with flowers, diyas, and lights.

The 'temples' were beautifully decorated and thronged by a large crowd of devotees. He said, the special attractions of the Janmashtami festival included digi-tableaux, selfie points with Lord Krishna and many other pleasant animated scenes. In the cities, there were many bhajans, religious dances and discourses by saints and sages. Similarly, many social organizations also organize Janmashtami celebrations on their own scale. According to the scriptures, Janmashtami is the day of Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada. It is the day Lord Krishna took birth.
