External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met the families of 8 Indians who were sentenced to death in Qatar. During the meeting, Jaishankar stressed that the Government of India is attaching utmost importance to the case and is working expeditiously to stop the conviction of all Indians.
During the conversation, Jaishankar (Qatar News Indian Navy) said that I completely felt the concerns and pain of the families. He said the government would continue to make all efforts to ensure their release. Will also closely coordinate with the families in this regard.
A court in Qatar has sentenced 8 former Indian Navy officers to death. Qatar says that all these people were posing a threat to the country by spying on Qatar.
The eight former Indian Navy officers were detained last year. He was accused of spying for the country. These Indians have been accused of stealing secret information about Qatar's submarine project for Israel.
After the sentence was pronounced by the Qatari court, the Foreign Ministry expressed surprise and objection to this decision. The ministry said it was shocked by the decision and was exploring legal options.
