External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said in the Nikkei Asia 2024 conference that change is necessary in India to make Asia multipolar because a multipolar Asia will lead to the formation of a multipolar world.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said in the Nikkei Asia 2024 (Future of Asia) conference that change is necessary in India to make Asia multipolar because a multipolar Asia will create a multipolar world. India's growing strength will ensure that freedom, openness, transparency, and the rule of law prevail in the world.

This statement of Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is being seen in the context of China. The things Jaishankar said while addressing the said seminar organized in Tokyo through video conferencing also shows India's growing confidence on global platforms.

Foreign Minister Jaishankar said that India believes in setting an example today. Elections are going on in India which shows that change can also happen through democracy. It can be seen how India can effectively distribute socio-economic benefits widely. Whenever a natural disaster occurs, India is among the first to provide help. India is playing the role of leader in matters ranging from solar energy to biodiversity.

It is our belief that the Indo-Pacific region must be free, open, secure, peaceful, prosperous, and stable for global peace and stability to exist. During this particular occasion, the Indian Foreign Minister mentioned the need to further strengthen the relationship between Japan and India. Particular emphasis was placed on the continuous collaboration in the Northeast and the ongoing development efforts in India with the assistance of Japan.

In order to continue the ongoing collaboration in fields like energy, space, and healthcare, he expressed the need for a stronger commitment. Referring to the immense possibilities of increasing trade between the two countries, Jaishankar said that today India is doing bilateral trade of 135 billion dollars with the European Union, 118-118 billion dollars with the US and China, and 766 billion dollars with Russia. Whereas with Japan it is only 23 billion dollars. He invited Japanese companies to invest more in India.
