GST Council meeting on September 9, rationalization of rates to be discussed
GST Council: The GST Council, consisting of the Finance Ministers of the Center and the States, is the highest decision-making body regarding the Goods and Services Tax (GST). It has been working since July 1, 2017.
The GST Council, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, will meet on September 9. The Council wrote on its official account on the social media platform 'X', "The 54th meeting of the GST Council will be held on September 9, 2024, in New Delhi."
The GST Council, consisting of the Finance Ministers of the Center and the States, is the highest decision-making body regarding the Goods and Services Tax (GST). It has been working since July 1, 2017.
The meeting is expected to discuss rationalizing rates, reducing tax 'slabs', as well as the removal of inverted duty under GST.
The last Council meeting was held on June 23, after which Sitharaman said that in the next meeting of the GST Council, the Group of Ministers (GoM) on rationalization of rates headed by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sumant Choudhary will make a presentation on the status of work and the aspects 'covered' by the committee and the work pending before the committee.
