Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasad told Parliament that the 'Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System' has helped save at least Rs 2,400 crore from scammers. In response to a question, he said that this initiative has effectively handled more than 7.6 lakh complaints, demonstrating a strong response system for financial cyber fraud.

In fact, amid growing concerns over the increasing incidents of cyber fraud, KC Venugopal recently asked several questions to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in Parliament, in response to which Jitin gave this information. Prasad, in his detailed response, highlighted the government's efforts to reduce the risks of fraud and said that the helpline number 1930 issued for cyber fraud is getting a good response and people are complaining.

This team is working with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (14C) which is under the Ministry of Home Affairs. For this, it provides a comprehensive framework for law enforcement agencies (LEA). Scam accounts are blocked based on complaints made on the National Cyber Crime Portal.

The Ministry of Home Affairs runs awareness campaigns about cybercrime from time to time. Government cyber security agency CERT-In also keeps issuing alerts from time to time about possible cyber attacks.
