Technology company Google has started manufacturing Chromebooks in India in collaboration with PC manufacturing company HP. This information was given by HP on Monday.

According to the information, the manufacturing of Chromebook devices is to be done at HP's Flex facility located near Chennai. Where the company is already producing laptops and desktops.

Giving information on social media platform X, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that we are starting manufacturing of Chromebooks in India in collaboration with HP. These will be the first Chromebooks to be made in India. This will make it easier for Indian students to pursue affordable and secure computing.

HP is among the companies that have applied for the Rs 17,000 crore PLI scheme for IT hardware. It has also been confirmed by an HP spokesperson that the production of Google's Chromebook has started in India.

A joint statement from Google and HP said that Chromebooks are a leading device in K-12 education. It is helping 5 crore students and teachers all over the world.

HP has been expanding its manufacturing operations in India since 2020. Currently, P is producing EliteBooks, HP ProBooks, and HP G8 series notebooks in India.
