Forget Sunil Mittal and Rajiv Bajaj, Gautam Adani takes less salary than his officers
Gautam Adani: Billionaire businessman Gautam Adani received a salary of Rs 9.26 crore from his group companies in the financial year 2023-24. This is much less than many other industrialists as well as their own officers. Let us know how much pay package the rest of the industrialists get and how much salary the country's richest person and Reliance Group owner Mukesh Ambani takes.
The group's total salary for its chairman and the second richest person is Gautam Adani, with a sum of Rs 9.26 crore for the money year that ends on March 31, 2024. This will put him at less than his other counterparts in the industry and his key officers.
There are 10 companies listed in the stock market of Adani Group, whose business expanse is from ports to the energy sector. His annual report shows that the remuneration to 61-year-old Adani was taken only from two of the ten companies of this group.
The biggest company of the group is Adani Enterprises Limited. Gautam Adani got a salary of Rs 2.19 crore along with Rs 27 lakh as allowance and other benefits for the 2023-24 financial year, i.e., aggregating to Rs 2.46 crore. This is three percent more than a year ago. During the same period, he got a salary of Rs 6.8 crore from Adani Ports and SEZ Limited.
Now, if we talk about almost all the big business houses of India, Gautam Adani's salary is much less than their heads. Mukesh Ambani, the wealthiest man in the country and owner of Reliance Group, has not taken any salary since the coronavirus epidemic. Before that, his annual package was fixed at Rs 15 crore only.
His remuneration is way lower in comparison to the remuneration of telecom giant Bharti Airtel Chief Sunil Bharti Mittal, who took home Rs 16.7 crore in 2022-23, Bajaj Auto MD Rajiv Bajaj Rs 53.7 crore, Hero MotoCorp CMD Pawan Munjal Rs 80 crore, L&T Chairman SN Subrahmanyan, and Infosys CEO Salil S Parekh.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Adani's worth is $106 billion. He is in the race to become Asia's richest person with Mukesh Ambani. He had become the richest Asian in 2022, but Adani Group shares fell sharply after a report by American short-seller Hindenburg Research, and he lost that status.
However, all companies belonging to the group are now returning from that setback. Adani twice this year became Asia's richest person, but Ambani passed him within hours both times. He is ranked 12th on the list of the world's wealthiest people, with a net worth of $111 billion. Adani is ranked 14th. Vinay Prakash, chief executive and director on the AEL board received a total remuneration of Rs 89.37 crore. Group CFO Jugeshinder Singh took home a salary of Rs 9.45 crore. To the renewable energy company of the group, Adani Green Energy Limited, Vineet S Jain, its CEO, was paid Rs 15.25 crore; to Suresh P Manglani, the CEO of Adani Total Gas Limited, it was given Rs 6.88 crore; and Angshu Malik paid Rs 5.15 crore to Adani Wilmar's CEO.
