The Center has released funds for 14 flood-affected states. An advance assistance of Rs 5858 crore has been released from the National Disaster Relief Fund. Soon the team will also visit Bihar and West Bengal. Mittal Shah said that the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi is standing shoulder to shoulder with the people of the states affected by natural disasters to reduce their difficulties.

The Central Government has given an advance assistance of Rs 5,858 crore from the National Disaster Relief Fund for tackling the loss and destruction caused by floods in 14 states including Bihar and West Bengal. There is severe destruction in many states including Assam, Mizoram due to continuous rain and after assessing the damage, the Central Inter-Ministerial Team will also visit Bihar and West Bengal soon.

Further assistance would be issued subsequently upon receipt of the report of the inter-ministerial team. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi is standing shoulder to shoulder with the people of the states affected by natural disasters to reduce their difficulties.

The Home Ministry said National Disaster Relief Fund released Rs 656 crore to Bihar, Rs 468 crore to West Bengal, Rs 1492 crore to Maharashtra and Rs 189 crore to Himachal Pradesh. Besides, assistance has also been provided to Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Kerala, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Telangana and Tripura.

The inter-ministerial team has made an on-the-spot assessment of damage in Assam, Mizoram, Kerala, Tripura, Nagaland, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Manipur, a senior official said. It will visit other states shortly. Over Rs 14,958 crore has been released to 21 states as this central disaster assistance.
