The budget session has been scheduled from July 22 to August 12, per information provided by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. On July 23, the Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, will present the budget.

Based upon the Recommendation of the Government of India, the Hon'ble President of India is pleased to approve the proposal for proroguing both the Houses of Parliament and calling the Budget Session, 2024 commencing from July 22, 2024, to August 12, 2024," Rijiju said in a statement.

This will be the first budget of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term. Many expectations of all sections are attached to it. The President Draupadi Murmu has also said that this budget will prove historic in many respects. While addressing a joint meeting of Parliament, President Murmu expressed her views that significant social and economic decisions would be the hallmark of the budget.

The interim budget was presented in February due to the Lok Sabha elections in April-June. The Finance Minister announced no big scheme in this. There was no extraordinary relief regarding tax. In such a situation, taxpayers have great expectations from the budget this time.

This time, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will set a record regarding the budget presentation. She is going to be the first Finance Minister who will present seven consecutive Union Budgets. Nirmala Sitharaman will leave behind Morarji Desai in this matter, who had presented six successive budgets.
