Amul's vanilla ice cream has become quite popular on social media since June 15. This case originates from Noida. On June 15, 2024, a woman shared on social media that she had ordered Amul's vanilla ice cream through a food delivery app. A dead centipede was discovered in this ice cream box.
Amul then asked the customer to return the ice cream tub so that he could investigate the situation in which the centipede was discovered.
Amul on Monday asked a woman customer in Noida to return the ice cream tub in which she claimed to have discovered a centipede, claiming that the company provides superior quality dairy products in both India and the global market.
Food safety officials said that a woman in Noida has claimed that she found a centipede inside an ice cream tub ordered through the instant delivery app. Following this, the Noida Food Safety Department has started an investigation.
In a post on X on June 15, the woman who identified herself as Deepa Devi shared a picture showing the worm inside the ice cream tub. Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, has regretted the inconvenience caused to the woman customers in Noida.
Amul said in a statement that it promptly responded to the complaint on social media. The company said that its team was continuously trying to contact the customer and was allowed to meet him after 9:30 pm on the same day (June 15).
Amul said in the statement, "During our meeting with the customer we had requested the customer to provide the said ice cream tub for examination. But, unfortunately, the customer refused to hand over the same. Until the complaint pack is received from the customer, it would be difficult for us to investigate the matter and hence comment specifically on the issue which also includes the integrity of the pack and supply chain."
Amul further said that during the interaction with the customer, the customer was informed and assured about Amul's state-of-the-art ISO-certified plants, which are automated and undergo several stringent quality checks before offering any product for sale to the esteemed customers.
The company said that once we receive the complaint pack from the customer, we will investigate the matter from all angles and will again reach out to our customers with the findings.
Amul also invited the customers to visit its plant to assure them about the quality processes followed. Apart from this, the company assured the customers about the superior quality of Amul ice cream.
