India's young talented Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa created another big upset by defeating world champion Ding Liren in the Norway Chess tournament on Monday. This was Praggnanandhaa's third win against high-ranked players in the tournament. Earlier, he had defeated Magnus Carlsen and Fabiano Caruana. Norway Chess wrote in a post on the social media platform X on this occasion that Praggnanandhaa defeated world number 1 Magnus Carlsen and world number 2 Fabiano Caruana in their classical game and now he defeated world champion Ding Liren in his Armageddon game.

In other classical matches, Magnus Carlsen lost his Armageddon game to Hikaru Nakamura. On the other hand, Fabiano Caruana and Alireza Firouzja drew their Armageddon matches.

Carlsen leads after seven rounds with 13 points. Nakamura is second with 12 points, and Praggnanandhaa is third with 11 points. Praggnanandhaa will now face leader Carlsen in the eighth round.

Meanwhile, Vaishali suffered her second consecutive defeat, falling to her compatriot Koneru Humpy. Vaishali remains in third place, with 11 points. Anna Muzychuk leads with 12 points, while Ju Wenjun is in second with 11.5 points. Vaishali will face Anna Muzychuk in the eighth round.
